Useless things about your day!

That's part of the knuckle seal, what makes the knuckle air tight so your vacuum hubs work. Not part of the wheel bearing.

that o ring goes around the unit bearing and seals it into the knuckle.
can't be that.

but it does look like there's some sort of dust /mud seal on the yoke of the ujoint that butts up to the back of the bearing.

honestly, I'd cut it off with snips and ****ing run it until the bearing started making noise. You gotta take the bearing off to get at that bastard anyway.
Ah, ok. I see now. hrm.

I'm just going to run it. I'll replace it when its time to do bearings.

Ah. they weren't working last season so I bought new locking hubs. I had too anyways since I couldn't manually rotate them- frozen on auto. the vacuum works fine now though. maybe more of a "dust boot" thing for preventative.

I ****ing hate ticks.

Yesterday I caught one walking around on my neck, then this morning I found one in my hair....

****KKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!

Now every time I feel something move it is a ****ing 'Oh **** do I have another tick on me' moment?

I don't get all squeamish or scream or whatever... just smash the ****er into the next life and move on... but **** I hate that feeling....

I am finding that things are hitting harder these days. Elderly neighbor passed away about a month ago. Good guy but could come across as grumpy, wealthy, nice house that he spent time on landscaping. Lived alone (had a GF but she has her own place).
So anyway, I walk my dog every morning about 7:00 past his place and just as we are going by the automatic sprinklers come on.

I don't know why but that makes me really sad. All his work making a beautiful yard, setting up the irrigation and he can't even enjoy it anymore

I can't even thank him anymore for making a nice place for me and my dog to walk past

there's no wobble or anything. threw the truck up on the rack pulled the front tires. wanted to see how my caliper slides were, and one was frozen. upon doing that, I noticed the rubber seal jobber thing.

or by wobble, leave the seal there to wobble around and move on.
Its more of a saying, don't worry about it until its broke.

I'm thinking about going full Crispins on a chicken foul that just happened to me. But it wouldn't be worth the gas money to go back to town. This one is on the other end of the chicken spectrum however. Brookshire Brothers had two 18-packs of eggs for half price on their Cinco de Mayo sales flyer. I got them home and looked at the receipt -- that bitch rang them up at full price! I should have been paying attention.

Bought today on an ad that was good for May 1-3?

that's the bit that's slung around my shaft. jury's out if its worth ripping the entire unit out to replace it. I messed with it a bit yesterday, and bearing is tight. spins nice. no bad sounds. eh.....

It goes in that groove in your first pic.
Clean the old one and the groove with brake cleaner and glue that one back in.

EDIT: NM, i'm caught up now

Was supposed to start a new role at work on the 18th of this month. Got told at 6 am today to de-couple from my current role immediately and report to the new spot at 6 am tomorrow morning. Hour and a half commute each way. This is my new home for the rest of the year. The task is to get all that sand in the ground and hope it doesn’t come back. #frac’n again.

Don't forget to get some pictures of the injection system.
