08 **** box

Well...I haven't done **** to this thing but pile stuff around and on it.
I really have no excuses why I haven't worked on it. I did a bunch of stuff to the k5 and sxs but sadly haven't touched this in about 2 years... still on jack stands in the same spot. I did finally make a decision on some things, but there will likely not be any progress until mid to late summer.
So my wife talked me into getting rid of the 08 cab and putting a crew cab in it's place. She wanted a 99-07 style truck but I bought this yellow piece instead. It's in great shape, but I have my work cut out for me. It is getting a 77 front clip and pinched at the same time. Also getting bucket seats front and rear, but the front floors need to be replaced so I will try to graft the 08 floor in... not exactly sure how that will go but they are the same width so maybe not as bad as I think. The crew cab will be painted yamaha blue because **** yellow. The rear of the frame has to go as well... so I get to start over on all that since this cab is 8 1/2" longer than the extended cab. That's ok because I didn't really like how it turned out. Now I will try to build a proper pre- runner style bed for more storage and Protection... hopefully I'm back on this before we know it.

Yup, it's something I've wanted to do for a while. I found it not too far away for a great deal. Couldn't pass it up since the wife had been wanting a crew cab anyway. I used her wants against her
And yeah, round headlights are the only way. I had planned on doing it to the k5, but what happens with that is up in the air......I really want to do a buggy after this is done and the k5 will go down the road if I get that wish to fund it.

That's awesome! Are you going to start a new build thread for it or morph this one? Either way, I'm gonna watch it. Might even convince me to build out square crew cab as well....

Honestly, I was contemplating starting a new one... but not sure. It might be a cool little Easter egg to find later on to new followers. Either way it won't get going for a bit anyway. Just wanted to update this thread so people know it's not dead, even though I had to send it to the icu for a while lol

You should build it, but the road can be long as you can see from this thread

Any plans for boat sides? I feel there is a significant performance advantage, especially with a fullsize. I love mine on my 81 Toyota, and there is not near as much to be gained on it as a fullsize.

That has actually been a pretty specific topic of debate between my buddy and I... as of right now I'm not planning on doing much more than cutting the lower portion of the rocker panels off and installing 2x6 tube to just below the door just like on the k5, but that could change. I know the advantages are there to be had but for now the plan is to keep it simple and get it moving.
