Korn killed dubstep

quite possibly the loudest concert I have ever been to
Damn, that would've been solid live. Can't remember the year, but the 1 time I saw korn would've been 2005ish and it was a killer show.

But dubstep really dropped out of pop culture for some reason, and I think it's because they realized they couldn't top this album.

Dubstep always lacked the substance to stay, korn gave them that bit of stuff. Much like Metallica and the orchestra making a killer album, which finally killed Metallica, for they could never do better.

My sister went to one of the S§M concerts after they put out that album down in San Fran:laughing: apparently a pretty good show

Can't say I ever saw them live, but the black album was ever as new as I could get with them. Outside of punk, Metallica is the only 80s metal I could listen to

Jeeesus.

Just went to YouTube for the dropkick Murphy's link above. Man, their official most recent video is them as far and old talking about getting in fights and **** (all good) but then it's got SPLC "Charleston" style people as their "enemy"....bro, you'd get your ass kicked at this point.

Anyways, long tangent to say they actually made a New England Forever album. For people like Stuck who can't get enough New England :flipoff2:

Saw them at Fenway. That was awesome.

KoRn was the first concert I ever went to. Untouchables Tour or Pop Sucks tour I cant remember. My Brother won tickets on the radio station KICT-95.

It would have been in October of 2001. My brothers wife was very pregnant and came too. She stayed up in the stands we went to the mosh pit. I think she had my nephew the next day. My Brother always joked the concert shook him out.

Saw them again in 2009 but I went to that concert to see Static-X. It was a huge concert with tons of big bands. I remember Mudvayne was there and some others Incant remember.

I got to see Static-X a few times before Wayne died. They always rocked it.

Mudvayne, Black Label Society, Sevendust. All great concerts, but Static-X really put in the effort.

Metallica killed Metallica. Selling out, turning their back on everything they claimed they stood for, the black album, James' "singing lessons", cutting their hair and other ***gotry. They were my favorite band for years. Their early music was great for the time, perfect for the angsty teenager I was then, but now I listen to most of it and wonder what the big deal was. There's some brilliance in there, but I find that I could delete half of each album from my playlist and never miss them. My latest favorite band is Insomnium, and there's so much more depth and talent there. Maybe it's just that my tastes have matured, but Metallica just seems like background noise. They play their new garbage on the radio for ****'s sake. Insomnium feels more like an experience when I listen to it.

And Lars was always a piece of ****, douche. That Napster bull**** forever aligned him with the "I'm just here to get paid" crowd.

As for Korn, I haven't listens to any of their stuff since maybe the Untouchables album. Never got to see them in concert. Oddly the loudest concert I remember was Metallica's Justice tour when that damn explosion went off that blew apart the statue. I think I was deaf for a few minutes after that.

Korn didn’t kill anything. They showed up late in the dubstep game and every song is a collaboration with the best of the best at the time. I like both Korn, and dubstep. That’s my least favorites album of theirs.

There’s two kinds of music. Chaos, and organized chaos. The path of totality is just chaos. I like loud hard hitting music that’s structured like a song. That’s what I love about the original Korn albums. Here to stay is one of my favorite songs of all time. (Off of untouchables). Top two concerts I’ve been to.

All the dubsteppers that Korn collaborated with on the path of totality have multiple songs on my regular rotation list, as does every Korn album before it. But I don’t have any songs from that one or any after it from Korn on my regular playlist.

Nice throwback thread though 🍻

Excision rules (featured a lot on P.O.T). Here’s one of my favorites. This song at Red Rocks in Colorado kicked ass. I saw them open for BassNectar back when I still partied like a 20 year old.

A good organized chaos noise from FeedMe, also collaborated on P.O.T. Hope you’ve got a good sound system built for base.

Their newest album Anno 1696 is awesome  One of their best albums IMO.

I feel like there has a been a resurgence within the broader 'melodic death' genre as of late. And i dont mean In Flames :shaking:, they havent released a good album in many years. Ive been really digging on the new albums from In Mourning, Nailed To Obscurity, The Holeum & Hanging Garden. Although the past couple weeks ive been geeking out over the return of Neurosis. I still need to listen to the new one from At The Gates too, havent had time. So much good music out there these days.

And **** Monkey that POS was so drunk, the FOH engineer shut off his microphone after he kicked his amp over.

We went to a Godsmack concert with Slipknot opening. Slipknot couldn’t make it so Static-X took their spot. They were incredible. I was an instant fan.

slipknot put on a good show

i was a bit bummed to hear a while ago that they were, essentially, an industry plant band  it's a fun script, it was just back before I had accepted that everything is fake and gay and staged. its all acceptable now though and easier to enjoy regardless :rasta:

Did you do sound for that show? I’ve seen them several times. Always a good show.
I was the house system tech, they had their own engineers. I just get them patched into the house system and make sure they don't blow **** up.

Here's Cory wearing Spiderman pajamas, it was a nighty-night theme. And my view from FOH.

I saw Live at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield back in the day. They came onstage and Ed was green from head to toe. Like Kermit the frog green. It took me awhile to ask my friends about it because I thought it was just the acid we bought from some dude in the bathroom. Man that was a great show.

I have distant memories of when Korn came out in the early 90's . I do remember liking thier videos but never like them enough to bother with an album.

Another fun fact. I've never been to a concert other than Ozzy. It was a free ticket I got somewhere in Utah when I was 16. That's when I discovered live music and mass amounts of people wasn't my jam.
