I have a big Snap On epiq 68" at work. The company has decided to install 'built-in' style toolbox cabinets in the entire shop. I am not sure when it will happen, but they have guys coming out and taking measurements and submitting estimates already.

I dont really want to sell it but it is too goddamn big for my garage. Kinda putting feelers out here if anyone is interested. You would need a liftgate or ramped trailer, this thing is heavy, gotta be over 500lbs empty. 68" wide with stainless power top. Its about 4' tall.

Every tech has his own box already so there is going to be a ****load of used snap on boxes for sale soon in the Bay Area.

Curious what such a box sell for used?

I quickly did some searching and see a $14k MSRP, 987lbs for weight, 8k lbs capacity.

Sure you looked up the correct box? That sounds like the specs for my Snap On box that's an extra set of side draws wider.....

*Don't mind the mess, I'm still in the process of getting everything organized at the new house.

A few guys have the same box, nobody paid that much. Used rate is going to be about half the msrp, or whatever someone is willing to pay.

If any of the techs at your work are getting rid of a yellow Snap On box I’m in the Bay Area and interested. Preferably KRL style, but doesn’t really matter. Could always use another yellow tool box…

SnapOn makes good ****, but it's way over priced. You'd be lucky to get ½ price. Unless you have a serious medical condition and need to pay bills, never sell tools. Replacement tools cost more for less. I still have the SnapOn box and tools that I bought in 1971 for my first wrenching job in high school. You can always use tools

I think Lista or Vidmar boxes are far superior in strength. They were quite common to see when I was in the Air Force, but don't see them much otherwise. Even in the big ($$$$$) outfits I deliver to, they have mostly home built shelving and cabinets for stuff or cheapish toolboxes.
No idea what they cost new, but I can't imagine they are much more than Snap On prices?

I guess look like a brick **** house vs a "pretty" box.

I folded the wheels over on my Snap On box this summer while moving it. Lifting it with the skid steer and put a bit of pressure against it as I went to lift up. Instead of rolling or sliding, the wheels folded over, bending the bottom of the box. Lifted 2 "cheap" Husqy boxes, one with way more **** in it, just the same without any problems.

It doesn’t look like you’re turning wrenches out of it are you ?

When you pay close to $14k for a tool box you tend to treat it with a bit more respect than a Craftsman box. I can't speak for the OP but for the first ten years of owning my Snap On box I waxed that bitch top to bottom twice a year like clockwork and wiped down the box with Maguires spray detailer evey night before I went home.

The last two I bought used and I paid under $2K for one and $800 plus an upright older snap on tool box for the third one I got off of Craigslist. The first one I bought new in the early 90’s and I think it was around $4K then.

It looks like a KRL large tamale cart box. Has the newer version suspension casters under it. All of my boxes have the older coil spring style like yours and they only put them on the KRL tamale carts.

Funny this pops up, thinking about retiring from wrenching. I have the room for mine but I don’t really need it. Tools boxes all over marketplace these days.

Yep, in one way it’s great to find a great deal on a good box like snap on. Sadly though, it kills the value of ones you own now. Some of that is people typically can’t **** thousands of dollars at one time for a tool box. So a tool truck will set them up on a company account to make payments on. Same thing using a cc at HF for one of theirs. But person to person is a lump sum cash dealio.
