My stupid car.

I pulled the plug for the wire harness off the back of the trans last night (was a pain because I had to pull the mount crossmember to get to it) and blasted it off with contact cleaner.

It now works great!

Furthest drive yet done today, a bit over an hour 1 way to work. OD most of the whole way. Even kicked down with a bit of full throttle, then back into OD.

Works well. Highway cruising is nice!

10 days in to DD status and we're still using all gears AND locking the torque converter!

Ive been getting slightly annoyed with the fuel gauge. It has been working sometimes for a few minutes, but mostly not. I took the connectors off, the sender, and hit them with contact cleaner and a jewlers file. No dice, still ****ed.

So I drove it for a few days, and got down to what I thought may be less than half a tank.

I used a brass drift and started tapping through lock ring off to get the sender put and take a look inside. But the fuel level was NOT less than that hole and gas started pouring out. So it quickly reversed and tightened back up. :homer:

Now the gauge seems to work fine?

Maybe tapping it with the hammer knocked some **** off of it on the inside? Maybe loosening it and tightening it unfucked a ground?

Who knows, I'll take it.

Poking around car-part.com I think I found a car in a yard kind of near me. It may even be black. I am thinking about going to get the hood, trunk lid, and as much interior bull**** I can think of.

The sender mostly sits on an O-ring so the only good metal to metal contact is through the ring. It had a **** ground and you make it marginally less **** by wiggling it back and forth.

Or something like that.

I like this story so keep it coming OP!
I'll do my best!

My co worker suddenly came down with the cancer (I assume at least, judging by biopsy one day, and oncologist the next) so I jumped from part time to full time. At least until he gets well enough to work, or we get another full timer.

So I've been mostly just driving it. My commute is about an hour and it's working mostly well. It's pretty comfortable!

I did find out yesterday that range of 0 miles on the dash, actually had about 4 gallons left in the tank. It took 19.5 gallons and the Internet says 23.5 gallon capacity

Took this pulling into the Costco.

I have gotten down to only one code for the CEL

It's an intermittent MAP code on bank B.

I have yet to determine if it's a sensor, or actually something wrong. I think it may be sensor because it will randomly just show 0 on the scanner when I'm watching it. I did correct a few vacuum leaks while attempting to troubleshoot though.

I did put the XJ8 wheels on it.

Rides a lot better. A bit of a shimmy between 60 and 70 though.

I promptly lost a hubcap, on my first drive with the proper wheels. It had some broken tabs and a half-ass attempt of double side tape.

I'll get some grey filament and attempt to 3d print one.
