^ Because it started marketing about freedom lifestyle.

Nothing like spending tons of money for a BMW GS, fark it all out, get some high end gear to park in the first campground and use a tent. Big bucks to embrace homelesness:laughing:

Reason I linked these up is to show how much different world looked in the mid 90's for the original one, later on they organized the Sahara trip.
1st trip was on Suzuki DR350s, Sahara trip was on Honda XR400s.

Nowadays it has to be 700 Tenere or a litter adv bike, nevermind single cyl thumpers have navigated the Globe and continue to do so.

Adv bike/overlander/jeep anything/ etc etc. Its all pretty legit until it goes from just doing **** to having a ***le and followers

XR600R, and let it rip. Those things go fast standing still.

I am happy as a clam on my DR650, or when commuting on my Zuma 125 - shaves 20 plus min from my work commute and I keep it pinned most of the way.

They are legit! Still would have a hard time buying honda over an orange one..

How?
Lane filtering. I use a very busy road going to work and back, in the afternoon it is not unusual to spend 45min to an hour or so to get home (12 miles). On scooter I am typically 20-25min, always in the front/getting around cars.

Utah lane filtering allows motorcycles to move between stopped traffic on multi-lane roads to reach the front of an intersection. It is legal only when the speed limit is 45 mph or less, traffic is stopped, and the motorcycle travels at
15 mph.

Hey bigun - talked to Beemerchef lately?

Thread just reminded me of him, haven't thought about that dude in a long time.
Just this evening he is going to have hip replacement in May.
He was telling me he had been going to the senior center, till he realized he didn't like being around so many old people! :lmao:
We try to get together once in awhile, his dog's vet is about a 110 miles from me

Cool, glad to hear he's still going. Try to get him on here maybe? I'm sure we'd like to have him back but I understand if it's a tough mode of communication to keep up with.

I still keep in touch with RoosterBooster, he's doing some great moto and off-grid overlanding stuff with his dog. And building neat things. I'll see if maybe he wants to jump back in as well.

I must have had 30 bikes in total.

My DR650 i bought new, and is the only bike I've never sold off. It took a lot to get it to where it is, but it fits me and my needs perfectly.

Just buy the Tenere World Raid, it fixed all those things.

Edit: obligatory pic of my Tenere

My DR ever dies i see myself on a T7.

May end up selling my GSXF650. Get a Vstrom setup for pavement to replace it. Street bikes are fun, but I don't find them comfortable.

Yawp. I had Wolfeman's tank saddle as well, but that thing was horrid. Get on any trail, the straps loose and would dangle.

I keep a lot of stuff on me. All for flat tires and repairs. Rain gear too. Takes up a bit.
