We’ve been sharing new tech thread posts to social media with links back to bring in traffic and members……

…. But I don’t do social media, so I don’t monitor them.

But…..

People are reacting….

…. What to do?

  • ****‘em?
  • post the replies here as a guest post?
  • bacon?

…… ideas?

Keep in mind that even you don't use social media, to engage and promote your own site.

So far it's one post that seems to have been picked up. Reply or engage or react or some such. Also do the same for the other stuff, understanding there's low odds anything else pops the way that did

There is only so much that Facebook will allow, they are working to make money as well.

Full disclosure, I see your posts and don't respond either, but I'm only on Facebook for marketplace and if a video hit links over there, so it's not just irate

I see reposts from here daily. I always Like and sometimes comment.

I'd think even robo responses would drive participation, and make nice for the algorithm. Can't hurt?

My opinion.... keep the FB traffic over there. They are replying to the post topic while simultaneously seeing it is from IBB. If it really interests them, then they will wander over and join up or engage. Otherwise, I would not merge the two platforms' traffic.

I wouldn't bother trying to copy the responses here, unless you can get Cammi to do it somehow.

At least liking the response probably helps the algorithm and commenting would likely do more so. For my business pages (FB & IG), engaging with comments does raise the results for a post. I can see that by looking at the statistics before and after I respond although it is not immediate.

Due to the algorithms, I rarely see IBB posts on FB or IG unless I go looking for them.

Not a bot here.

But....I see the Irate pop up on Instagram, however not FB (maybe I don't follow that there).

I will say, FWIW, this is the place I come to more than those....'cause, well, most of them are morons (or bots or assclowns I maybe knew in school).

I get the need/want to generate more traffic here....but just not sold on that population as being the best increased traffic pool to draw from.

EDIT: Wait a damned minute! Now FB Irate posts are showing up, and it's saying I'm 'Following' (guess I was....but never saw any/many posts from Irate in my thread). I don't understand all this secret-sauce algorithm stuff.

I face somewhat the same thing with my business page. I likely don't really want the average FB or IG user as a client. However, it does find some of the right people that otherwise might not find me. And I have a FB scroll of my posts on my website and those updates seem to have a positive effect on my website traffic.

I'd say that the other consideration is to get people to share posts to local 4x4 forums or other venues that would be more likely to find the right people.

Over half of the internet is bots.

Dead Internet theory

I have a decent suspicion that almost everyone here is "real", but I treat ever other comment elsewhere as a bot.

That's why other forms of social media have went nuts, and forums stagnated. They have been using bots to boost views and create noise that then attracts attention whores.

It's a lot harder to get a bot to interact with us here. So it looks boring.

You're liable to end up with unwanted attention...aka those that think off roading should be banned (for the environment), 100% completely against the 2nd.....etc. FB is ate up with the ****tards.

Unintended consequences

Just my opinion.

Big time this!

oh yes, a robot reposting a billion basic bitch noob parrot responses whose reaction will not even be readable to the person who typed them out on the weak site

sounds like exactly the sort of engagement that pbb was known for welcoming with gentle adoration

I now have Cammi look at the text in the OP’s post, and compare to trending hashtags to get on that bandwagon before she posts there. Before it was a random pick of words related to the ***le or the forum name. So hopefully traffic in those picks up.

I don’t have to do anything with them….. I was more wondering if people wanted those posts here if I set Cammi up to monitor and copy here. I would expect real back and fourth though

Nobody wants cross contamination:flipoff2:

Just remember, if they post here and we can reply, they're not on FB anymore and their feeling will not be taking into consideration. On FB, a post that hurts their feelings can and has resulted in suspensions and bans. I'm not sure the merger of the two worlds will work out.

My account was banned and deleted by FB. :flipoff2:

Personally, I don't think it'd be worth it but, this is not my court. 🤷‍♂️

If a reply on the Facebook post is mirrored here, what would that look like in a thread? Like how would the user name or post author get transferred over?

I get that there are potentially comments or content that would be valuable to have included in the thread here, but if it makes the actual thread continuity get all jacked up, might do more harm than good. Like when threads get merged and a bunch of context gets lost in the mix.

I would think that if you had a membership here that you’d just click the link to the thread and reply but that’s a good point, people would need to put their FB and IG usernames in their profile here to avoid that …. Not many have that filled out.
