What did you do to your GM today?

Finaly scored a hd hood. Its not perfect but im not worried.

do you mind adjusting the front of the hood a little higher? thanks..

is that an 8.1 or? would you say the 2500 burb is a big step up from 1500? Have been considering them

As for me, well my mechanic apparently found that the 8.1 was working on 4 cylinders. Given it has six 12r22.5 tires, Im surprised it ever made it to 55mph.

Injectors werent firing. Either fuse or connection, but he said its fixed now. Cant wait to take it on a drive.

I think i finaly figued out why the front has sat so low on this and the last hood but not the hood that came with it. The a frame the latch is mounted to is bent in and i just need to relpace it. Not a big deal but some thing i need to grab.

Yes i have the 8.1 in the burb. Totalgirlfriend has a pickup that is drivetrain equiped identicaly but has the 6.0, and i dont care for it. Its a noticable difference. I have a black burb the i bought and is in use with extended family, it is 8.1 but has 4.10 (otherwise identical) and it is that much better again.

So if youre debating on one try to get 4.10 equiped more than 6.0 v 8.1.

6.0 3.73 meh
8.1 3.73 id like it more if it was 4.10
8.1 4.10 **** yeah

All 8.1 burbs are 14bff rear. 6.0 are 90% 14bsf, but 14bff versions do exist.

if thsts your garage, im so f'ing jealous.
Yep, moved here about 13 or so years ago. Wife looked at the house and I headed to the shops...we met in the yard and decided this was it. The main shop is a 45x60 and there's a 30x60 next to it. They were naked shops then and we've been building them out since...It is truly my sanctuary.

thats awesome man, literally the definition of "living the dream"

cant tell for sure from the photos, did you use flux stainless wire, tack tack tack?

Man, I'm trying...thanks!

Nope, tack, tack, tack with .035 70S-6 under C25. Less than ideal, but it's what I had to work with.

Yes, the tubing/mufflers are stainless. It'll weld fine with mild steel, but the joints may preferentially corrode faster...probably outlast me though.

small spool of flux core SS wire from blue demon was well worth it for me, but when I tried welding my SS with regular wire it looked like poo (overhead tho)

anyway, badass all around.

My first time welding stainless was with my little 120v welder on my cars SS exhaust and it still looks like poo with SS wire but should last a long time. I do have a leak at a flange, think I overheated it and warped it being too worried about getting good penetration on one pass.

All deapends on the stainless.

Exhaust is generaly ****ty ss so it welds well.

Lots and lots of variables.

this is true, most prebent systems (like pypes) were 409, but mandrel bends can be found in 304. Tack tack tack but its stainless and weds dont rust. Blue demon has some different wire on amazon

Finally finishing up the arb/ gear install on my d70hd. This is the 3rd style of bulkhead fitting that ARB has released....

I used a pick and a small socket to help with installing the orings by lining it all up with the pick inside the airline and pushing on with the socket.

Sad to hear but completely understand it. I'm probably going to be selling 2 of my motorcycle's, the one I have had for over 20 years. It's nothing special to others but means a lot to me. But I can't be that old man with stuff sitting around rotting away "I'm going to ride again some year" I doubt it. Maybe I will throw tags on it while I advertise it for sale and get a little use out of it who knows. 1980 Honda CM400A just for reference, the other bike is a 1978 Honda Goldwing 1000 stripped down to a naked bike. I still like it but don't have the connection of the 400

When did bearings stop coming with the race?
Since forever. Cups and cones get mixed and matched to fit a given application. The same bearing with a different cup is a carrier bearing for something. Same cup with a different cone is a pinion bearing for something else. They stock them separately so they can cover more applications with less parts.

If you want a cup and cone you gotta buy a SETwhatever part number.
