Tdi rhd jimny build

Any updates?

Told myself to get into gear this year. I’m planning to pull the TDI out of my 05 Golf in the next several weeks. Any tips/ suggestions. What to keep, unbolt, etc. you’re using the manual Zuki tranny and not the one behind the TDI correct?
Well my lazy ass just pulled my low mile motor outve the wrecked golf. Things i will say #1 give zero ****s about the car. #2 keep anything you might want to use. Hoses etc. i believe thats a brm so things might be different than an alh. But keep all engine harness and chassis side pigtails if youre building your own harness gas pedal ecu etc. in my never ending horse trading i did end up with a mtdi pump. So i will be using that and a hans diesel turbo controller for the vnt turbo. It will have a boost knob on the dash for adjustment which uses the factory vacuum pump/n75 valve and a 3 bar map sensor. The motor in the jimny is destin for my 83 toyota pick as the 20/22r hybrid is very tired. The engine currently in the jimny is setup to be around 200hp(injectors turbo tuning etc) but im keeping this thing not much over stock power to make sure my suzuki samurai 5 speed doesnt grenade in 2.5 seconds. Im currently taking some time off work after working 6 12's for 3.5 years. So im giving myself until the end of the month to get this thing done. I have no social media anymore and i challenge anyone reading this to do my "free from social media febuary" this came about after i realized i sat by the stove in my shop ****ing the dog looking at my phone for 3.5hrs straight. It's an absolute waste. But yeah anyhowitzer heres some pictures of moving things around and a zero fučks engine pull and keep in mind i havent washed this power house yet talk about a clean low mile (98k) unit.🤌🏻

****ty golfs gone and the engine is clean. Car was 4900lbs at the scrap yard pretty good considering they weigh 23-2500 lbs with a motor from the factory

Why you dont sleep on a project for over a year 🐀 **** really smells that bad after being in the hot shop. ****ers got behind the rear interior panels and died from poison. Also these headliners suck to remove

That sucks. I have had that before. I try to use dryer sheets inside the car and moth balls outside to keep the critters away.

Aftermarket power locks and headliner removed. What a pain in the ass. Have to pull the rest of the interior trim out deep clean and put the new headliner in. Well maybe after the rust repair😂

Also who knew these ****ers had eps factory on the column!?

If anyones wondering about the winch placement things get very tight when running a rhd steering box. All winches that i can find have the larger motor on the "passenger" side for steering box clearance🙃 shes just sitting there in the picture, it mounts tight to the front tube of the bumper for maximum clearance

As stated before I haven't had the pleasure of being around one of these imported ones so no clue about the EPS but it makes perfect sense, Japanese manufacturer trying to be up on the new tech and lighter than normal PS setup.

Im in the same boat, had over 20 samurais and this is my first jimny. Ill see how it works i guess should steer pretty good with the vw pump toyota ifs box and the eps. If needed ill add the hydro assist i have for it but given that this isnt intended to be a rock crawler just a cool cruiser it should be ***tys

Put a fresh coat of satin black on the pannels that were light grey that a previous owner did a real half ass job brushing black. I understand why they did it but it looked like ass up close😂

Haha i doubt ill get it done today but ill be working on it all day have one fender lip and a couple other spots it's pretty mint for a jap rig from 95

Thanks for info :dustin:

I also noticed some droppings in my tow rig. I set trips the other day but haven’t come up with anything. Should give it a good vacuum soon.

Never messed with sheet metal, almost got all the interior patch work done. Just got the left rear fender lip and a small spot on the right rear corner

I know you already know this but i am so ****ing jealous over that thing. In my area a new samurai in the 90's probably had that must rust after 1 winter. The next generation Jimny's are cool too but something about the last years of the "samurai" body one is so perfect. ****ing magazine **** heads cost us way too much and got away with it.

Luckily rust isnt a huge deal here, i built this samurai this spring and sold it. 16v built toyota axles yj springs etc typical samurai build

I might have to do one of those fly out and drive back deals. How much BS do you think TSA would give me for a G10T in a backpack? :stirthepot:

Trust me using the soft top tub as a patch panel vs my brand new quarter makes sense. Why not have oem bosses to make a radio antenna mount bolt to

The sample cans for the respray color turned out perfect. While i was bored waiting for paint to dry i cleaned up and painted the old warn m8000. Also got a plan for the antenna mount that should work well in the factory bosses.

That's a pretty poor place for an antenna performance wise.

While i do agree it's not the best, it will work just fine there. I have one there on my xj, yj and on the green samurai i sold. Optimally you'd mount it in the center of the roof for the best ground plane. But for what i use them for they haven't given me any problems. I can still tune into the local repeaters and get out as far as needed. Also i should point out with the body sloping away i have about 12" clearance at the top of the antenna which
