Post up your latest new or used tool purchases

Whelp, picked up my auction stuff today. Overall I think I did a pretty good deal.

The Wilton vise is in good shape and not all beat to fawk. It moves in & out good but needs disassembled, cleaned up and lubed. I think it’ll look good cleaned up I think too and not need paint on it.

The table it was bolted to is heavier than I was thinking. I’ll remove the top and make a nice top for it and maybe use it or just sell it as it is now.

I bought a cHiNa large chuck cheap and my plan is to put it on my old lathe I’m going to sell. I’m keeping the three jaw that was on my old lathe. I’ll have to modify the mounting plate.

'nother small auction haul.

I pick up these Kennedy machinist's boxes whenever I see them cheap enough. I'll scavenge the good tools for my collection and the box goes to my antique booth. I've probably sold 5 of these 520's in the last year or so. Good condition and clean, they go for $180-200. Painted like this, probably $90-100. Paid $92 for this one and there's probably $2-300+ worth of tools in it so not too shabby. :smokin:

And mostly I just think it's cool to go through some machinist's box from 50+ years ago.

Also picked up a cool little pair of cast iron dollies. (And about 100 throwing horseshoes  )

They're pretty old, but apparently they still make the same ones in a different color. Not too bad for $35 :smokin:

Now, the real deal winner besides the $18 Wilton vise is the following.

I bought two of those sliding four drawer organizers. You can remove the drawer from the rack and take it over to your job. These are big though. I think close to 24” x 12” x 3” big.

They are loaded with Allan hardware and just what I was thinking about trying to build up an inventory of. Well, now I’m off to a huge start with not much money in them.

All way from tiny bolts up to 1/2” diameter. 😎

What kind of eraser wheel you have on that?

A ****ty one. Like its impressive just how ****ty it is. Good thing I only bought 5 of them...:homer: Probly hunt up some 3M stuff. Have had pretty good luck with their stuff

Your place seems like a good location for them
Well, no **** Sherlock. It’s why I bought it all

I have huge organizers for typical SAE grade 8 hardware that I buy in bulk to keep my inventory up. It’s mostly all labeled but not all of it.

I have old used hardware from decades of working on stuff and stripping things down. It’s all separated by diameter sizes in 5 gallon buckets. I don’t use that much but it comes in handy searching for of stuff.

My next venture is building up bulk metric hardware but it’s a lot more expensive than SAE is.

But for Allen, it has its uses and I doubt I’d use half of what I got today in my lifetime. None of that matters to me, I know I have and will have used for it and that’s all that matters really.

Does the trigger lock or do you have to hold it the whole time? How does it compare to a normal rat tail?

No lock.

only messed with it for a few. But it isnt goona replace a corded 7" grinder thats for sure. Think it'll work pretty good for my needs though.

For reference, the HF version is 10-ton and has fewer punches for $100. Vevor also has a 10-ton version for $65.

This got delivered yesterday. I have to fully unpack it and put it through its paces, but so far I'm impressed. The cardboard box it came in even had handles as it is about 45 pounds.

Hows the metal toolbox that holds it all? That is nice it came with one. Most of the chinese **** comes in styrofoam and you have to put it in your own toolbox or ammo can. Get yourself an air over hydro pump if you are going to be doing a ton of knockouts. And then you can get a dimple die set to match those knockout sizes too.

I've got the dimple die set.

Having unpacked everything now, I'm not terribly impressed with the metal case. It will do for the time being, but is a bit on the light side for the weight of what is in it and has no provisions for holding the components - they're just all loose in there to bang around into each other if you carry it anywhere. I also don't fully trust the clasps.

my "SYK-8" came with styrofoam inside the tincan
it sorta halfass holds stuff apart good enough I guess as it destroys itself

Got to run it with some 36gr paper. Its not bad :smokin: Still not the snort of a corded one but I'm starting to really like this thing.

****er likes the battery though. Smokes through that 12.0 pretty quick

how's the weight? imagine with the 12 it's about 20lbs
pretty nice haul from the auction last night. got home for about 1/3 of new $$$. All in really good shape. Looked like it was probably a motorcycle shop that went outtah bizness.
