Looks like it’s capable of turning metric threads best I can tell.
if the gears are with it, or on there
some of them have one you flip over, other ones you gotta change the gear out
look for one of them with 127 teeth, that'll tell you for sure

I have a similar version of that with the same power feed setup. But mine doesn't have the fence/miter guide or whatever it's called. I might be requesting some detailed pics and measurements of that.

Brought it home yesterday. Wasn’t the best day to do it as significant rain was coming down.

Wasn’t pictured in the listing or made clear, but it came with the standup cabinet also branded DoAll full of blades and various fixture devices. There’s some sort of band file blades in it I haven’t seen before, but those are pretty cool.

Also came with a coolant tank and pump.

I think this will drive me to finally wire in a 460 V transformer into the shop.

It's not dual voltage?

Mine was wired for 460. I just had to retap the motor and swap out the 3 heaters on the starter.

Yes, but at this point, I think I have three machines that would be better suited on 460v. Would probably make things easier for me down the road.

If you don't know it already, soak the whole thing down with WD-40 (Water Displacement-40) and then wipe it down. It's **** for penetrating fluid, but does do its intended job nicely.
Yep, but spray it in all places you can see and not see.

I’d find a 3 phase 230v motor to stuff in it or single phase. They’re all over fb mp

Mine actually came with a decent size transformer. They were using it as a step down for something on it and I can't remember what. The saw's motor itself was 460. I'm thinking maybe they were running the blade welder off of it. But a step down is also a step up and I need to keep that in the back of my mind if I ever come across a smaller cheap 460v that nobody else wants to mess with.

It also had another little transformer mounted on the back that I think was running a little air solenoid as they had bypassed the original belt driven air pump.

I'm really kicking my ass for leaving about a half dozen BIG transformers at a storage yard I was cleaning up for my old company about 10 years ago. At the time I had no inkling that I'd ever have a use for something like that and I was just trying to get the **** out of that site so I gave them to the guy that owned the building. They were brand new and now that I now what they are, I'm guessing they were probably worth $5k+ apiece. :mad3:

Gonna update my Leblond lathe pickup and moving progress and process in my three shop thread.

It's a unimat sl1000

They can also be converted into a mini mill

What did I just buy?

It came with a hydraulic press. Unsure if homemade or not. The ram is about a 3.5 inch bore through hole enerpac ram. Sticker might be random or manufacture sticker.

It's got a full width pointy die at the top like a regular metal brake, but the bottom die is another pointy die (no V die).

It's also got swing away blocks milled to hold something round parallel to the dies.

Also got the flat wings that can flip up.

My area is all mining and sawmilling.

I keep coming back to some kinda "installing bristle sections into grooves in a roller" sorta flappy thing
but the positioning blocks would get in the way unless they're only putting two flappers in each roller

it wouldn't be something like mashing windings into a motor rotor because it would ruin them

maybe to make tubes into a figure eight shape for crimping onto wire rope?

maybe to make tubes into a figure eight shape for crimping onto wire rope?
That seems like a pretty good guess, but I've only seen those shaped crimps on tiny ****ty swages. All the big, properly made stuff gets flemished and tails twisted back into the core so the swage needs to be round.

Too bad the previous owner isn't still around. He was a real nice millwright but died of cancer a few years back.

Now I'm thinking about it, it reminds me of the core boxes that diamond drillers use to store rock core. Those cores always get sawed in half so you can fire assay one half, and keep the other half to look at.

I wonder if you could hydraulically split a rock core lengthwise?

Yep. Hydraulic core splitter.

I wonder why they'd use a through bore enerpac cylinder, instead of a standard one? (I'd think the through bore would be far, far more expensive). They're only using the through bore for the rod and return spring, which could be accomplished other ways.

So, the next question, is it worth enough to resell, or should I modding it into a metal brake as was original plan...

If anybody is interested and doesn't know...

This is some core samples. Diamond drill will drill a long hole (thousands of feed) in bedrock with hollow drill and extract these cores of rock so mineralization can be tested (looking for gold).

They get stored/shipped in boxes milled from 2x8. Boxes look like this:

There used to be a bar around here that used the stuff for wainscotting on the walls. It was awesome!

Unless you can sell it for mid hundreds I think that press is worth far more to you permanently hooked to a power pack and bolted to the wall for all those times you wanna put bends in narrow things.

I generally search eBay for a comparable and see how many people if any are on the watchlist. This seems to be a reasonable way to gauge the market on something.

This one's way nicer, $2000 CDN.

It has nobody watching it. I would consider that a bad sign as far as reselling yours to somebody. But you never know.
