Have any of you been keeping up with Shannon Campbell's Scrambler build? I believe the episode below is his first episode and basically everything after this episode is the scrambler build.
Figured it would drum up a good discussion and the thread can morph as the videos continue on.
I will start and say, wow, not only is he a good fabricator and he can move at one hell of a pace (we already knew that) but I enjoy his tool setup. Today we usually see everything cut out on a plasma table, he still does everything by hand which is refreshing to see, he doesn't use a plasma cutter often, and no computers to cut **** out. I will also say he is really open to sharing his knowledge, if you ask a question in the comments you will most likely get an answer and there are no secrets. He will tell you how and why he did things. Usually top guys like that keep it secret, vague or flat out don't answer. He did a live video once and he was literally answering question by question. I remember full hydro and road worthiness coming up and he explained how he mechanically slows the steering down, he uses an orbital that is a 3 turn setup vs 2 turn like his race car, etc. He is very open about his stuff.
Lastly, I don't think I have seen a build like this, it is hardcore, yet versatile. The hardcore aspect of it is big HP, big boy, lightweight race axles, tube chassis, full hydro (that will probably be good on road) and has good geometry.
Usually a build like that is hindered by being uncomfortable, lacks fuel range, and isn't good in inclement weather but this will have a top and windshield, AC, heat, a fuel tank that holds over 30 gallons, can seat 4, badass sound system with a high tech head unit and he even plans to tow a home built overland trailer with it. I don't know if I have seen a rig that can probably party with the best of them and then go down the road in luxury. Maybe we will start to see more builds like this in the future.
