67 C10 with Camaro running gear

Might throw a thin sheet metal bed floor in it for the interim until we get the right wood that we want and dad and I have time to make the new boards. Just pulled it back in the shop again last night to cut the frame down as soon as the boy has time to work on it. Hopefully that’s tonight after work
Got it inspected and tagged/insured last week, $40 tag for antique, now it’s $17/year here on out.
Still on the hunt for a tr6060, I have seen several for $3000 and just need to find one that I trust is still good and pull the trigger
This part of summer is pretty busy, I have four or five small excavating jobs to do, we have some wheat that needs cut and a Colorado trip here in 21 days. Both side-by-side need the transmission to come out, one needs the case welded and the other needs lower gears put in it.

Here in 19 days he wants to take the 67 to a burnout competition and truck show and melt a couple sets of tires off so we need to get it put back together good enough to go do that.
This surface rust was after one night out in the humidity/overnight dew

Cheers all, I’ll update when we get it shortened and the bed back together and installed.

Wheat is cut, lots of dump trucking, spraying will be done today, septic install done, all to say we have had very little time on the truck.
I told him I needed him to devote a full day on Saturday to get the frame shortened and body mounts moved and the driveshaft cut down and we got it done by about 4 o’clock. We didn’t get started until almost 10 messing around with farm stuff first. I wish I had a solid bed floor available but I think it will be cool in the end if I put the wood back in it so forging ahead with the “steel for now” plan. Both bedsides are done and it is back on its tires and able to drive, some assembly required on the bed

Related news, I went and helped my friends with the IROC builds get the first one fired today. They have a buddy that works at pro charger that had a black label blower cam that fit well with the LSA blowers they are using. Only took 3 trips back to my shop to rob parts and pigtails/fluids etc to make it happen but she runs. (He owns the 80 that abuts south of our 120 so not a big drive)

Got some time today after a big rain. Got bed mostly together sans floor.

Was on mp this am and saw a truck being parted. Bolt in cell with aeromotive 340 and correct level sender etc for $700. Pushed the easy button and saved myself time later.

Also got seatbelt mounted on both sides. Close to date night cruise levels of completion tomorrow.

Spent the evening at the IROCs and got trans crossmember/torque arm mount done. Helped them get the engine wet and idling properly while drinking all their beers.

Got to cruise it to get gas. Feels good to drive for real. It SUUUUUCKS to drive with manual steering sloppy as **** and non power brakes. Still ****ing feels good. Time to focus on Rzr for CO trip in 5 days. Truck is good enough for now besides a blowout bedside protector for the burnout contest/truck show he’s taking it to this coming week

Nice build !

Love the patina .

I wouldn’t put any clear or anything on it
My son has a squarebody with good patina and he uses some kind of oil on it once a year or so .

Thank you, I don’t plan on doing anything to the finish currently
This week he has been in the honeymoon phase of driving it as a complete ****ing **** box. Huge amount of slop in the manual steering, front manual brakes only, windows don’t roll down and it’s hot as **** outside but he’s still cruising it every night after work:laughing:
He’s taking it to a truck show this weekend with a buddy to do a burnout contest so we are welding the blowout protector for the rear bedside up tonight when he gets off.

Anti blowout stuff, now he’s headed to truck show with his dumbass buddies. He’s 16, most of his buddies are 17 and 18, still doesn’t make me confident they won’t **** something up 😬

Truth. Hopefully they learn something along the way and hopefully it doesn’t cost me too much money or a child.

Well event got rained out right as the burnout contest was starting. He said they waited two hours for a tractor to come pull them out and then got the truck loaded and had to get the tow rig and trailer pulled out as well. So as they were leaving town they got the idea to do a burnout on the trailer. My kid never shares any of this with me, it has to be another parent that follows one of his friends on Snapchat that shows me the adventures

A bit off-topic - where's that Carnage trail located?
Carnage Canyon is near Buena Vista, CO. Pretty legit trail overall. Only 2 real obstacles and then a lot of nuisance rocks like a lot of KOH trails

do you have a middle position for the shifter placement? that looks awfully far back for that truck.... but i am sure you measured already.

Word. That's the only Carnage trailer I knew of. Didn't get to run it when we lived in CO. I was told it had been closed off.

Custom shifter fab inbound once set.

More on that, the TR is different than the TKX or TKO. It has a remote body mounted pivot point and yoke and then an arm going forward to the actual shifter so relocating it is pretty easy.

that means middle spot looked like the spot you can plug into

Most all of the shifters I am finding are still remote mount like the factory one, but I did see this one in a quick search that replaces it and goes direct mount. Just a quick measurement if I push the engine back as far as I can and direct amount the shifter it puts it about in the right spot for where the seats are currently mounted

So I drug the old 3550 home I was initially going to use and had been taking the PO's word for it that it was a standard 3550 good for like 350/375 tq. Ran the tag today, its a TKO 600! Absolutely would have done what I needed without grabbing the TR6060. Oh well, room to grow with the bigger 6 speed.

Last piece of the puzzle landed this AM. TR6060 from an 18 SS 1LE with 34k that wrapped around a pole. $2000. Can’t wait for Christmas break. Going to be hard to not start sooner than later.
Ive got one of these (2015 Camaro so it has the three bolt output flange) behind my LS2....trucks not running or driving yet, so curious to see how it works for you guys.

Pretty sure I can use the factory Camaro driveshaft as I am using the factory Camaro rear cradle and differential. That said my friends that both used the same transmission in their fourth GEN Camaro just bought the sonnax 1350 adapter yoke and used a driveshaft with a slip Spline in the shaft
