Youth 1000 Race Car

Got in some good prerunning on both the main course and the qualifying course.

We had a good, clean qualifying run and now we prep the car for the main.

Good luck and kick ass!

Id almost be tempted to run smaller tires, a lower ride height and a stiff sway bar, Pro 4 truck style and jump the rocks if possible.

I am not sure if the YORR series uses the rock piles, but they are there. You could jump the rocks last time we raced there.

I love seeing that Yota flying through the air. Its so wrong looking. :smokin:

A set of 28" Hoosier bites on light wheels would really wake that car up, along with the other things I mentioned. Show up with a short course setup and jump the rocks. I bet he would smoke the field like that. :grinpimp:

The race was awesome. The track was a 6 mile mix of short course and high speed sections.

Thursday we set up camp and got in some good pre-running. We ran the main course about 4 times and got some good notes. Then we ran the qualifying course a few times and headed back to camp.

On Friday Hunter qualified 2nd in class. After qualifying we fueled and prepped the car for the main race on Saturday.

On Saturday the main race was 6 laps on the 6 mile course. We got the car staged and ready to go. The green light came on and we were off and racing. Hunter was able to get the car up to 70mph in the high speed sections and work his way through the course with no issues. We passed the leader on lap 5 after he lost a belt and Hunter came across the line in 1st place!

Overall it was another great.

Are you guys replacing specific parts every race as part of the race prep, or are you just checking everything over and replacing what's needed?

I was changing the wheel bearings out after the Oklahoma and Indiana races plus normal race prep. The hubs spent a good amount of time under water at those races.

Race prep for the Sturgis race goes like this-

Drop and clean the skid plates and car.

Drain and refill front diff.

Drain and refill rear diff/ gear box.

Drain and refill the engine oil. Change engine oil filter every 2 races.

I still need to check the car comms, navigation, install a new spark plug, install new air filter and some other little things.

I run Brisk plugs in my engine.
