This is my son Hunter's CanAm Maverick Sport. It is a former Ultra4 4900 stock class race car. He will be racing his last season in the 170 class and then racing KOH 2026 in the Youth 1000 class in this car. We added seat risers, pedal extensions have been getting some seat time locally.

I'm know I'm a weird safety nazi, but make sure the belts are at the proper angles for him.
With him being smaller, there is a real chance of back issues in case of a crash with belts that aren't setup properly.

Same problem for the adults I might add, but that's your kid.

I bet he's going to have a blast !!!!

Thanks man, he is sitting on a PRP seat pad that puts him at the right position for the correct harness angle. The car was surprisingly easy to set-up for a kid to drive comfortable.

Visco or smart lock? If it's visco i have a diff and axles that you can have for spares.
Smart lock, thanks for the offer.

I have replaced the 4wd actuator, replaced the relays and checked all the fuses. The next thing will be replacing the 4wd dash switch. I can manually put it in 4wd and everything works properly so fun time electric scavenger hunt!

I'd rewire it and use a separate harness and switch to control the 4x4 clutch. I helped a guy rewire his Polaris when the 4x4 clutch stopped working at the track and they only had 2wd.

Rewiring it to a separate switch was going to be the last option. The solution was replacing the 4wd/2wd dash switch and securing some loose ground wires. Fun Times!

Hunter Crossing the finish line at Cross Bar Ranch during the Ultra4 Youth 1000 race. The front diff/ Smart-Lok stopped working early into the race and the co-driver spent most of the race winching up obstacles. They made the full lap and took home 2nd place.

Who is his co-Driver?? You??

Did you get a good workout??

Not me lol. Our friend and my co-driver in 4600 Joe co-drove for him. He said its was a great workout especially in a helmet and firesuit! I will be co-driving for the upcoming race in Indiana, it should be a good time.

The Youth1000 Ultra4 race at the Badlands park was exciting! We got in some good pre running and prepped the car for qualifying. Hunter had a good, clean qualifying run and we headed back to prep the car for the main. The Youth1000 was racing with the adult 4900 classes minus the ProMod guys. We took the green flag and we were off and racing! Around mile 2 there were 2 rolled over cars blocking both of our lines. We helped one car flip back over and get off the trail. At this time the race leaders started to come up behind us. We got out of the way, let them pass and got back moving. When we came to the quarry section I put Hunter on a bad line and he flopped the car pretty good. Hunter was good, recovery got us flipped back over, Hunter drove the car off the course, did an interview on the live stream and then drove the car back to camp. The car is good, the kid is good, he had a great time and we are getting ready for the next one.

How does he feel about racing the other car now that he has had a taste of a car with a real suspension and power? He must be getting bored going slow.
