The Possum Catcher

Shop is a mess and this picture sucks. But we have a floor and sides! Exhaust is done, frame is done.

It looks insane in person. Pictures do not do it justice.

No flange tool, you can run a bead on this if you do things the right way :flipoff2:

First impressions on the body work: it’s good from far but far from good. For this application, i have zero complaints. Have a little bit of warpage on the floor but thats no biggie.

That triangle right behind the targa bar was a bit of an oopsie, I need to make some sort of joggled filler piece for that. But it’s fine.

Passenger side is done except that filler piece. Drivers side needs to be ground down and the same filler piece.

Driveshaft should be here at the end of next week. Seat brackets, cage, fuel lines and paint pretty much cover it.

Got lazy taking pictures along the way but it’s moving.

Both sides skinned. Need a little more grinding and a skim coat of Bondo but it’s not bad. Passenger seat brackets done, rear seat bracket needs paint and bolts and it’s done, driver seat bracket just needs welding.

Fawked up and cut my top rail at an angle. Didnt cut the new piece at an angle. Now I’m left with this gap that I needs some work. Won’t be too bad

Driveshaft showed back up. The old one was a total loss :laughing:

Stretched samurai or skinny 4Runner? I re made that harness bar for the front seat for a little more back seat room. I’m tall and can sit back there no problem

Has your neighbor seen this yet? Back in the day we crammed a 350 into a Sammy on 44s with a Toyota drivetrain.

We put a shakedown on it Saturday, gnarbicon was kind enough to make a highlight reel of the day. It was awesome!

The extra wheelbase felt pretty great. I definitely need to get more seat time to figure out how to drive it. It is incredible how much the rear end pushes the front into/up obstacles whereas it would just slide sideways or spin tires before. Things just don't feel as steep as they used to. IThe atrocious lack of rear travel is way more noticeable now, that's a problem for another day. It only felt too long twice all day: once when it bellied out because I took a bad line and once when I couldn't get it oriented onto a line that I wanted.

5 stars, would cut in half again.
