Tdi rhd jimny build

Tell me that's not ride height?
Will be a few inches lower theres no drivetrain in it but this is only a daily/light trail rig so im not trying to slam it on its nuts like my yj, my buggy, or my other sami or cj5. I absolutley refuse to cut any of the tub on this rig. Im building it as a toy to replace my daily driver honda

84" and that tall, I can't imagine actually wheelin it

It’s not that tall stock yj springs on 35’s im 6’1” and roof is shorter than me. Same setup as my exocaged sami i wheel like a ****ing rock bouncer😂 gotta remember the things on jackstands with no drivetrain in it🖕🏼😂

Your exo caged Sami stock wheelbase too?
It’s about 83”

Well been a minute since ive posted. Very few updates given how busy life has been. Motor mounts are tacked in, suspension was fully cycled. Need bumps next. Needless to say i had to make the call a couple weeks ago not to try to take it on the rubicon trip. So im going through my yj in my spare time prepping it for the trip.

I somehow failed to take a picture of the seats installed after the rails were done but these are stock seat frames with the cushions etc unbolted and front tabs added the rear used the factory back pivot bolts.

Getting rear hoops ready to get tacked on

Tried like a million winch placement ideas and tape bumpers… this is the best i came up with if anyone has ideas let me know im going for something like an allpro with fill plates

The approach angle is still pretty good it doesnt stick out as far as it looks like in the pictures.

Not to distract from the build too much could you grab some pictures of that stock coil frame? always curious about them but never any good shots of the stock setup.

Theyre just radius arm front/rear nothing too fancy

Trying to decide how to terminate the lower tube… it was an afterthought but i liked how it looked so now im thinking cut on the sharpie mark that lines up with the fender cut and caping with flat plate. Would that look ******ed with the round plug above it? Probably so im probably gonna do it🤣 if anyone has suggestions throw em out

I'd probably just run a straight tube up and notch it like your tape mockup but I'm also lazy.

Capping it at the angle you've got drawn on there would probably make it blend in pretty well.

This is what i ended up doing looked the cleanest of everything i tried straight lower tubes looked ******ed like a football helmet so was not gonna do that.

Got these sliders on a sale at summit, theyre lowrange which is usually pretty good for sami stuff but not quite a sami.. the kei class models have no flares so that means no metal flare mounts welded to the body. So that makes these sliders short, exactly 4” short so i stretched one tonight i think it looks clean like this

I cant tell if i love it or hate it…🤔

I like it man. Ty for the pics of the chassis and suspension, I know they aren't really anything special but just not common so never seen one of them without the body in the way. I know some people will hate me for this but I would love to get one of the last "samurai" style Jimny's with the turbo 3 and ten convert it to LHD for a DD. I have driven RHD before and it's a fun here and there experience but living with one gets old to me. Guessing someone who grew up in\lives in a country driving RHD would feel same way if they imported a LHD car lol.

You can get them in lhd and thats what this one is the last of the sami body style im looking for a new body style one thats from ‘99 or ‘00 since they can be imported now

Heres something you never hear people talking about because while i agree theyre frowned upon but sometimes you need a 1” body lift for drivetrain clearance. The first is a roadless gear which is full replacement polly bushings. But the hardware is crap. I cleaned the bolts with a wire brush on the drill but still couldnt get one to suck down the bushings at all. They also stripped very easy. While i like the thought of fully surrounding the body bolt theyre dang near impossible to tighten down and very soft material. The next was a low range and yeah it’s a crappy puck over stock body bushing design. But the fasteners are much much better. So i had to use roadless bushings and low range fasteners. But **** yeah bodys fully bolted down now!

Got a 2.5” downpipe to 3” exhaust. Added a spare header muffler at the end to cut down on some drone. The down pipe is a random nissan stock exhaust me and my buddy grabbed off the road, it always pays to hoard garbage🤣

Any updates?

Told myself to get into gear this year. I’m planning to pull the TDI out of my 05 Golf in the next several weeks. Any tips/ suggestions. What to keep, unbolt, etc. you’re using the manual Zuki tranny and not the one behind the TDI correct?
