Shop stereo systems

Post some pictures of the hookups on the speakers and amp. Most PA stuff is different than you typical home stereo stuff.

My setup, 2 Behringer 2520's and a Behringer 4000 watt amp. Denon bluetooth receiver

I will grab some pictures tonight & throw them up on here. Currently running it with a little Pyle-esque BT amp but know I'm not getting nearly enough volume out of it and the amp gets a little hot haha.

Sweet

This setup is a little tinny sounding, a powered sub would make it dialed

I was tempted to put my tube amp and Yamaha NS1000's down there but I don't have the heart to subject those to grinding dust
I laid a furnace filter over the top of my Sony stereo receiver to allow cooling but collect dirt dust and grinding debris. It works great and have replaced it when it gets nasty.

Super thread necromancing but I've ended up with a pair of old Peavey PA speakers I'd like to hook up in the shop, so any suggestions for a decent powered amp to run them? Been looking at Pyle and a couple others on Amazon around the ~$200 price range but thought y'all might know better.

It did come with an old school amp and other equipment, but can't tell if it works and frankly, not 100% sure how it all goes together haha.

Are you just wanting an amp or an all-in-one stereo receiver?

For just an amp I found the Samson Servo series to be about the best bang for buck on the 2nd hand market.

Sorry, took a couple days to get back - tried to upload the pictures straight from my phone but they were too big... Lee - I'm looking for something I can just run bluetooth from my phone or maybe hook up a radio/CD player to and make decent sound from my speaker so I think an Amp might be able to suffice on it's own. Thanks for the rec on the Samson Servo, those don't look too bad pricewise.

Also, since you can't really tell from the picture, the speakers are a pair of old Peavey 112-Hs and just take a standard mono jack cable.

That top thing is a mixer, bottom 2 are amps. The middle Peavy amp having a "dead" sticker on makes me assume it doesn't work. I'd be fiddling with it. May be something simple, Peavy is a big enough brand to have parts support and if there's a common issue there's probably some forum posts and YouTube videos about fixing it. As rusty as a lot of those fasteners are though, they may be a lost cause.

If the mixer and one of the amps work, you just need to hook a Bluetooth receiver to one of the inputs on the mixer or straight to the amp if you don't plan on having more than one audio source.

Here's the instruction manual for your mixer:

I got one of these originally for adding Bluetooth to my ~20 year old Sony 5.1 home theater receiver, it's fine and will add Bluetooth to anything with an available input. I don't like that it doesn't have an off switch, if it's plugged in it's on.

I spliced an in-line switch into the power cable of that Bluetooth receiver and moved it to garage duty, after replacing it with a much fancier 1Mii Bluetooth receiver, I got 2nd hand off eBay. It's really overkill.

I got one of these Bluetooth receivers for our local Community Center's audio system, it's been as good as that fancy 1Mii thing as far as I can tell. Just no display. I though the antennas would be replaceable, thinking I'd stick some longer high gain antennas on it, but they don't come off. Stock antennas have plenty or range for most folks.

That's a huge help, thanks! I was confused on how to wire the mixer into the amp, but I think I see how to do it now with the Mixer instruction manual. I think the Channel A is dead on the Peavey but maybe B still works - I guess we'll find out!

Thanks for the leads on the Bluetooth receivers too, since I'm just in the shop I think the smaller one you bought for the community center will work great. I'll let you know when I get it up and running.

Kenwood VR series receiver, DCM 12" towers and a 15" Velodyne sub (all from Circuit City) in the rafters and an RCA to Apple Lightning adapter. Works great, but will go into protect mode on 100*+ days with the volume set to 11.

Apparently that wont be a problem, theres guys posting videos on social media of a bunch a guys building a new killdozer.

Buy yeah, **** alexa.
That's that whislin**** diesel dummy.

I rock an older M18 jobsite with a Bluetooth connector for the phone.

Mostly listen to podcasts anyhow.

So I've been looking at different ways to put a stereo in my new shop and considered using a bunch of old car speakers. I'm now leaning towards one of the larger bluetooth speaker head units. Anyone have any decent recommendations that doesn't cost a testie....

I've also thought about just doing a old home surround sound system.

Rockville cheap PA speakers hooked to a 90s vintage Yamaha rx730 receiver. They have 12" woofers and megaphone tweeters.

Could use a big rack amp for more bass, but honestly its louder than it needs to be. Cant hear a 7" angle grinder or air hammer when its cranked up.

If you lived in a suburb cops would get called about loud music for sure. Pa stage speakers are the way to go in a shop, home stereo stuff just doesnt get loud like stage speakers.

guess I should update this thread.
The dual 10" 'woofers' got swapped for 'subwoofers', then those got swapped out for Rockford Fosgate 10s. The woofers went into a cabinet for my electric guitar, as they were essentially PA/musical instrument drivers. The cheap subs went into daughters car.

Then added an cheap 18" sub with it's own 1300 W amp. 1400 + 1400 + 1300 + 400 = 4400 W

Hangs like the rest.

Then the 10s got swapped out for RF 15 P3. The 10 P3s went into my car.

This raised SPL to the next level. Holy ****.

cheap 21" woffer in a barrel. Another 1300 W just for it. It doesn't do much below 40 hz not a 'sub', but holy **** does it deliver from 40 and up.

Heavy so got it's own winch system. Now at 5,800 W. Another step in SPL, 'concert level'.

I bought a bunch of used speakers for home stereos off of FBMP. Bought sub woofers and other speakers which were infinity brand. I have three shops that I need tunes in.

One of my Sony ES series receivers took a **** a while back so I bought one off of eBay (a bit banged up but it will rattle my shop walls very well) and the other one off of FBMP to replace that one and get another one for my wood shop.
