This will be my second build thread. The first was a Ftoy on the other site.
TUBBY is registered as a 1975 Toyota FJ40. Chevy drivetrain D300 40's. The objective of this build will be a jack of all trades master of none (kind like myself)
I picked up this FJ40 in 2020 with the intentions of a mild build using FJ60 axles 37's low ride height on leafs, street legal with doors, top, and heater. I got the suspension and axles mostly done then decided to go 1 ton, 4/3link 40's ect. So I sold all that off and bought some coil overs and link brakets. I messed around trying to get all that to work with a chopped up bent Stock 40 frame. After never really being happy with how it was turning out I finally got tired of trying to work off of a chassis that was too narrow, tapered and out of square I decided to buy a subframe and build from the ground up.
Im hoping a build thread and some constructive criticism will help me stay motivated.
Ive already got a pretty good start on TUBBY, I'll try and post pics in sequence.

My reasoning is Travel, shock mounting, stronger rear links, probably going to mount the sway bar to the front shock mounting holes and forward of the rear axle. I didn't want to build shock mounts off of the top or hanging off the rear of the truss. It'll be easier to mount bumps to land on the truss without shocks in the way. I went with TMR trailing arm because the chassis side of arms came with the 2.625 width option.
