Build MNR 4600 class 2021 U4 Bronco

It’s going to be tight to have it ready for a legitimate run at 555 miles of desert for V2R but all I can do is try my hardest with all the time I’ve got.

Going to run the cage that’s in it for the rest of the year. If I had to re cage it I’d be out for the rest of the year. We’re going to add some reinforcement to some certain areas but it actually faired out really well. The A area is 1/4” shifted to the passenger side from where it started.

I’m slowly getting things massaged back into place. The tub was compressed pretty bad on the drivers side but using porta powers 3 of them at the same time we have it as straight as it’s going to get. I’m not slowing down to take progress pics because I don’t have time to spare. I think I have almost everything I need in my possession now to get it fixed. I just need to get the manual labor part done.

It was a lot more work than just hanging anything to get **** to line up. The fenders and hood were given to me by competitor John Williams, can’t thank him enough. The doors were given to me by competitor Loren Healy, since he’s the one that got me into this money pit I’m not sure if I should thank him or square off with him :flipoff2: Also can’t thank him enough. He loaned me a portal a rotor and rod ends I couldn’t have ran without when we scabbed it back together.

It’s been a lot of porta-powering to get the body lines to line up and the door strikers to shut and latch. When we rolled it smashed the two sides of the front subframe of the tub together and made a trapezoid out of the magnesium core support. I can’t believe it bent instead of just shattering. This is the piece arse_sidewards though was plastic like 20 pages ago. Even getting body panels for no cost I’m still a couple thousand bucks in replacements crap that I have to have for stock class rules.

The drivers side body mount got completely smashed. We were able to source a new straight from ford.

Been thrashing hard. Got the frame fixed, dad had one of our machine shops repair the portal case where the caliper stands got broken off. Put it on tires and drove it out of the shop so dad’s could come out, I had it blocked in. Still got a long ways to go on reassembly but there’s light at the end of the tunnel

Glad you were able to repair the portal, I hadn't read exactly what was wrong with it and was nervous for you wondering if you were going to have to buy a new one.
I forgot to take pictures of the repair. Dad’s got a guy that can weld the aluminum back up. Then throw it in a mill and put it back just like it was before. There’s a coating on these portals they don’t have the ability to re apply so you can see where it’s been fixed.

Dad has an aluminum engine block that got a motor mount boss broke off in one of his big crashes. They did such a good repair on that one that I can’t tell. They welded it, milled it and then needle hammered it or something to put cast looking texture back on it. Dads got two twin blocks and I can’t tell which ones been fixed and which ones virgin aluminum

Nice to have good places like that around you.

We just tried to have the local weld shop weld a 6" pipe and flange to an 18" cast cap and they couldn't pull it off. I asked if they were post heating it and they were like

They were able to just build a whole new flange, so I guess that's something.

That's pretty badass that you guys have an aluminum guy like that around, they are few and far between these days. :smokin:

Bronco is looking good!

Looks killer, hard to believe its the same chassis.

With all the changes you have made is it impossible to know how many actual miles are on the rig? Im sure you can give a guestimate but I'm just curious with you getting a brand new rig. me > :homer:

I could only guess because it doesn’t have an odometer. Memory is kinda fuzzy, think it had 900 ish miles on it when we took it apart. I’m guessing it has somewhere over 2000 miles on it now in total.

That's a lot of seat time!!
I am splitting it with my brother. This dude right here, has been in the trenches with me the whole way. I used to come home and help him, go pit for him when he was driving. So I’m having him take the green flag and run about half. Then I’ll jump in for the night half and take the checker when we make it that far.

My crazy dad, who is 64 years old. Is going to iron man it. If everything goes right he won’t get out at all for all 555 miles

Fawk yeah bud! I think its cool to leave 1 spot as a reminder. It's already scratched!
