There isn't enough weight to worry about and NO need to spend money on an extender that I don't actually need. I've been running like this for 3 years. I might pick up a Harbor Freight special for a trip later this year down to Ludington with my Hobie PA14.

I use a very thin layer of duct seal on the hull, press the transducer tight to it and build up around it. Any small air pocket between the transducer and hull throws them off.
I was less impressed with a Striker 4 and moved on to an echo map and a hummingbird. Damned things get expensive...
Through the hull transducer secured with duct seal has worked really well for me.
You fishing Berry for kokes or bass? Just before Easter is usually prime for bass. Or when the redbud start to bloom. It picks back up again in late fall before the lake flips.
Couple of late/early EMS calls has me running on an hour and a half sleep. Ran to the conservation district and picked up 29 trees. Went to the mt bike trail and recovered a plate compactor that was abandoned and living under 4 feet of snow over winter. Pulled it out on a hand truck.

I'll have a plate compactor on Saturday. I drug it flat with the box blade after ripping it. Moved some boulders and managed to snake it through the woods into the main food plot. Cleaned up a new section on the high side. The rest of the plot was no go wet.
