Dana 60/14 bolt 2 door Build

    Might as well contribute

My 08 2 door X didn’t even come with tow hooks, but it was low mileage and well maintained when I bought it. Sure the 3.8 is gutless but that means I just break stuff less, right? So after blowing up ball joints and a front shaft on 32s and an open diff I knew I needed beef, I am tired of the cock...I am not a master craftsmen but I turned wrenches for the navy for 20 years and dabble with the welder...weldingtipsandtricks.com, highly recommended.

    So the build..
99-04 Superduty d60 front axle, 99-06 gm 14 bolt rear shaved, Rear stretch, 37-40 inch tires, I have a line on 39.5 iroks, spools and lockers, 538s, Artec front truss and rear bracket kits, Artec tone rings and wheel speed sensor kits, Etc, etc..
I’m not super camera happy but I will try to update this as much as I remember. And I’m not super wordy, so no fancy paragraphs or anything...

Whipped up a JCR DIY bumper, will probably cut the crash bar off

Progressed on the d60, got most of the welding done except for most the cast sections, I need to find a weed burner to pre heat the bitch.

Bumper came out great. Not gigantic, but actually looks like it can be used as a bumper. I see a lot of bumpers that are so minimalist they can't actually do anything.

You can build it as a stubby, the the kit comes with the Lower skid section as well that bolts up to the crash bar..

Welding to the center section turned out ok!

That came out great. Cast iron welding sucks, cause you know it can ruin your day even if you do everything right.

Yah man, I was a bit stressed over it but it came out good. I’m also doing Artec weld on high steer, so that process will require pre and post controlled heating as well. The diff was a good warm up for that...now if my parts ever arrive I can get things moving, the brown Santa is slacking these days.

Opened up the 14 bolt to find a gov lock posi traction, I was going to use a mini spool or drop in locker but I might as well just go full spool now to simplify things. Spent some stimulus money locally on some Canadian made 🖕🖕 covers, POR 15’d them, then gay’d them up with some Kawasaki green!

I hear ya on the waiting. I ordered 2 bypass shocks and 4 bump stops about a month ago and was told it could be 2-3 months before I see them.

Started the grill hoop, built a bumper for the wife’s Jeep, picked up 5 38x14.5 for $1000
