Yes it is finally happening. axleater has a Scout that was raced in the Badlands Baja and several others around 1984. It has quite a history and has been dormant in garage storage for a few years now. It is getting built to race the YORR series in stock mod class.

Did not take long for the Speedmont race build coordinator to get to work. If anyone is interested in sponsorship for this old scout we are currently looking for some stock YJ springs, stock XJ rear springs, a full width gm dana 44 fromt axle, and a 67"-69" wide dana 60 rear axle.

some better pictures. Little bit done here and there. All the old parts have been removed, bumpers, fenders, etc. The old mount have been torched off and working on getting the frame ground and cleaned up. There are a pile of leaf spring starting to gather for the suspension. A Front axle has shown up and the engine, trans, and transfer case have been pressure washed and cleaned up.

We made some good progress last night. Thanks to Tom, Jim, Darien, and Jason we gained some body mounts, the new front crossmember is complete and tacked into place. Fender well exit exhaust looks like it is going to be harder than we thought but we have some plans to try anyway.

Next week is motor mount time!

Same motor with manifolds in the old rockcrawler. Exhaust might be exhausting

Tom knocked it out of the park with the passenger side header! Darien welded all the pop rivet holes for the roof, I mostly just measured and added to the list. Gotta pick up some snacks and supplies for next wednesday but tonight another piece of the puzzle found it's home .

A radiator that is probably a little bit too big but can never be too big, right. A little work on the frame mounting area and it will work. The hood is from my friend Cody Fuks old rockcrawler that had a 440 Dodge motor is in. It has been in storage for a very long time waiting for it's chance to shine again.

Another great night at Speedmont HQ. Seat mounts done, raked the front clip for better visability, seat belt bars started. Thanks Jason, Jim, Corey, Tom, and Darian for all the help!

Good progess again last night, Tom got the holes in the cowl cut out for the engnie cage, Pie cut the fenders to give a 1 1/2" rake to the front end for better visability for a short driver. Darien made the rest of the corner gussets and the door inserts are mocked up. Thanks Darien, Tom, Corey, and Jason for an awesome night!

engine cage is mocked up into place with some temporary front mounts. Front axle swapped out from the loaner (thanks Lonnie!) to the housing we are going to use along with the top over steering knuckle. Next week should be radiator mounts, shock hoops, and front sheet metal mounting.

Steering mocked up and the start of the front shock mounts were on the to do list tonight. The extra width of the full width front axle is proving to be the best choice now that we are starting to fill in all the space with shocks. Pitman arm will be redrilled to a shorter length to match up with the top over steering arm once we get the steering stops dialed in.
