Kanye West announces last minute vid to run for POTUS

    well this could get interesting.

    https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/...035952465.html

In 2015, when Kanye West accepted the Video Vanguard lifetime-achievement honor at the MTV Video Music Awards, he wrapped up his rambling, 11-minute speech with this declaration: “And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president." Spectators in the Microsoft Theater guffawed at the time, but it seems like the “Power” rapper wasn’t joking — as he celebrated the 4th of July this weekend by announcing on social media that he is actually launching a last-minute presidential campaign.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #@2020VISION,” West posted early Saturday evening, quickly setting off fireworks across the Twitterverse.

With the presidential election only four months away, it is unclear if West is serious about making it onto the 2020 ballot, or if that’s even possible. (Several fans referenced his sophomore album’s title in Twitter jokes about his “late registration.”) Last November at the Fast Company Innovation Festival, West had once again declared his intention to run for president — but in 2024. That speech also elicited crowd laughter, to which West retorted, “What y'all laughing at? We would create so many jobs! I'm not going to run, I'm going to walk. When you see headlines saying ‘Kanye's crazy’ — one in three African Americans are in jail and all the celebrities are in jail also because they can't say nothing, they got no opinion, they're so scared!"

On Saturday, many people on Twitter were still snickering at West’s latest campaign announcement (some replied with memes suggesting that West’s nemesis dating back to the 2009 VMAs, the newly politically vocal Taylor Swift, would be a more qualified candidate). Many others understandably assumed that this was all just some publicity stunt to promote new ‘Ye music dropping soon. And others seemed excited by the news, namely West’s pal and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who said West has his “full support.”

However, many other alarmed tweeters expressed the valid concern that if West really were to run, presumably on an independent ticket, he could siphon votes from Democratic nominee Joe Biden, split the vote, and thus ensure President Trump’s reelection — and they theorized that that is indeed the rapper’s true agenda

        because trump is evil.

kanye west isn't a democrat and was/is a trump supporter. Why would he siphon votes from biden? 1) you ain't black if you don't vote for biden 2) you ain't black if you don't vote for the black dude 3) the media would be slobering his knob if they thought he would siphon voters from trump, who he is much closer politically to

even if kanye isn't serious, and he likely is serious, just having this as a 'joke' that lasts for 2 or 3 months will be enough that he will "obviously siphon biden votes via write-ins, handing the election to trump". and i swear to god, that is fucking hilarious.

With all the nonsense, outside of the radical 25-30% of the democratic party progressives, I don't see how anybody can even honestly consider biden. Trump, JoJo, Giant Meteor, Kanye West....all significantly better options. i mean, holy hell, he hasn't even named failed candidate stacy abrams as his #2 so that he can have his token black and woman. it is just so bad in 2014/2015 I 100% honestly said "donald trump is a caricature of american politics" and i still think that is pretty true. if trump is a caricature, biden is....a 1930's disney cartoon? hell i'm not even sure how to describe it

Kanye could also pull Black Trump supporters.

An increasing number of blacks want to get off the Plantation, but if given an alternative to Trump, maybe they'll take it?

Here is a black woman for illustrative purposes:

because that's the standard talking point for all the media about a candidate that isn't aligned with the single party system.

IMO West wouldn't pull enough votes to make any difference one way or the other. As far as the POTUS election goes he's a non-entity.

Personally I'm voting Jo Jorgenson on the Libertarian ticket. Im pretty sick of the 2 party garbage show we have now. Not that I honestly think any of our votes really mean anything anyway.

At least he doesn't vote for someone who'll perpetuate the shit show we now have and then whine about it.

I would rather vote for who I want and have a clear conscience than vote between a douche and a turd sandwich.

O, I’m sure he isn’t voting for Biden.

Also, I am fully aware the Libertarian party doesn't really stand a chance, but I can't, in good conscience vote for Trump or Biden. They are both two sides of the same coin. Both want more government and more control.

I'm certainly not voting for that pedo Biden. I also thing Trump has done a decent job with the economy until this whole Covid thing happened, but honestly thsts all I can say that's good about him. He has flip flopped on his 2a stance a few times, and to be completely honest, he's a blithering idiot just like Biden.
