OBS side steps

Need some steps for the OBS. Not going to put the old style diamond plate stuff on this truck. Also not willing to spend the money needed for the Chevy AMP Research steps and adapter kit. I'm thinking $200 total budget.

Looking at either a set of chinesium "stainless" amazon specials - knowing I'll be modifying the brackets. Or a set of '21 F150 Crewcab take offs. Again, bracket modification/fabricobling will happen.

Gut says the take offs will likely be better quality... But the stainless w/ black plastic trim will better fit the "look" of the thing...

Thoughts? Other options?

i had these on my OBS...loved them.

I have a CC/SB/Dually w/ ~4" lift and 35's... While I don't mind this style, I'm not sure it works for this truck.

I want something that is the length of both doors. Small part of me is contemplating yanking one off the Tremor and seeing how close it will be to fitting...

I'm really torn on these. I agree they are cool and look great on OBS' in general. Maybe I'm trying too hard to... merge?... a new style onto this truck.

Current idea is these: OEM 2015-2021 Ford F150 Truck Running Boards BLACK 5" Crew Cab New T/Off | eBay

or these: For 2015-2022 Ford F150 Super Crew Cab 6" Running Boards Side Step Nerf Bars S/S | eBay

And yea... I know the latter are not going to be high quality... But i think they would blend into the black/chrome trim best.

Found a set of take off 2022 F250 XLT steps on FBMP for $100. Added $20 in hardware an a couple of hours... and passenger side done. The mounting model for the 22 is pretty darned close to the 97. Cut, flipped and re-welded inner mounts and bolted through floor boards. The outer mounts bolt through the pinch seam like old style. In fact, one of the pinch weld bolt holes basically lined up, so I used that for setting location.

Driver's side complete. Took a bit over an hour this time. Took a work call in there somewhere.

For the $120 I have in these, I'm content.

I dig it. They fit the body better than I first thought they would.
