good afternoon all,

Bruce is starting to get more and more rust, life in iowa. and i have decided to make it a light duty trail rig. made a rule for now that i will keep 33 inch tires because if i want to do crazy trails i have the buggy. the reason is i want to hit the other trails at the parks we go to, the Jeep trails. :grinpimp::grinpimp: because never do them because when your on 40 inch plus tires them trails are pretty boring for a group. I think hitting SMORR on a rig with 33s will be quite fun, not to mention i think there is quite a bit more 1s 2s and 3 trails there then there are 4s and 5s and 6s.

some of the plans are fairly simple.
remove back seats, and make a storage system of sort
mud tires
fix the lockers, both are fuckered up
rear bumper of some sort because i think the one thats on is about rusted through.
tcase gears or axle gears, but i al liking the idea of tcase.
maybe a cage , at least something maybe integrated roof rack cage...
some sort of 2 inch lift. not spacers
fix exhaust, rusted away...

anyway i may only hit one trail this year with it. maybe i will hit 5. who knows.

found these, too small?

check the Blem page at interco if you haven't already.. That's where I found my skinny 35/10.5/16 SX2s

i am this close........
and with this one click i get to do all this other stuff......
tcase gears....
lift kit
maybe rims..... maybe not.... and the snow ball quickly grows... hahahha

do explain for me. so there is two new sets of gears in the tcase. a high range set and a low range set?

I'm not the one to ask, as I've only heard and read a bit about them, but it does appear so.

Seems like a no Brainer to me to do them both if you're tearing into it.

Then if you go bigger later 4.88s become 5.38s and 5.29s become 5.82s :smokin:

thius coming weekend planning on a trip to go on a mild wheeling in the woods over in Pittsfield IL . i heard about the event on a jeep group on facebook and we friends there so it is a win. did nothing besides change a ujoint. still gonna rock 33 all terrains, lockers dont work because the motors are all gummed up. uggg. oh well time for maximum effort. :*) :smokin:

went out there to that event. only landcruiser there lots and loots of jeeps
had a great time put 160 miles on the rig. wow cant remember the last time that has happened. been used to the buggy life and going to a park and staying there only. this was quite the treat.

no lockers, no tires of note and no lift was the the theme for the cruiser hahahaahha still got to use the winch a couple of times yay....

found the lock motors on ebay. wow 125 and 150, rock auto is like 350 and almost 500 who knows what the quality will be like find out... hahah

so put front locker in two weeks back and still had nothing. come to find out the center diff lock indicator is what send a signal to engage the front locker, with out that light you get no locker. so last weekend we had our annual land cruiser event in iowa called tall corn cruiser classic.
i drove the right front up on a hill and got me enough room to get under there and pull that indictor out and pushed the plunger in and out about 20 times or so, then installed and bam. started working n yay.. then locker worked so good times. really enjoy the hell out of this rig.

future plans. stay 33 (but find mud tire) unless i find a smoking deal, and has to be absolutely smoking to go to 35s. just like the stance and reliability of 33s.
replace suspension, this set up is worn completely out like a 2 or 3 inch is all.

new radiator. mine is now leaking from the top tank.
some tubes around the body and redo exhaust.

I've heard the old man emu kit rides like a dream. It does on my 4runner. I'm forever a fan after buying the coils. Not even very expensive.

Look at 35x10.50s they get you the clearance, without the wieght and scrub of the 12.50s

There is also 285/75r17 which is like 34x11.50s

i was just chatting with a facebook market guy about some OME springs but shipping a deal killer and i dont have the time to drive 7 hours one way for just springs. but OME is on the top of the list and agree. not that crazy for a 2 inch heavy

New coils are only like $150/pair iirc.

The whole basic kit is $1150 according to google.

exactly and i need the kit. 242000 miles still orignal shit. worn springs, bushing, shocks, all need updated.

Exactly.

I'm not big on used suspension stuff personally. Unless it's obvious it's in great shape and a good price.

Especially with a kit, you'll end up nickel and dimming past the new price buying the missing parts.

It’ll ride great with the OME kit. Mine has the OME 2.5 kit which is old. But it still rides good.

2,5 heavy or med? and what else did you do. caster? drive shafts? brake line extensions. or did it just fit 33s or 35s. main reason i like 33s is i can stay on 4.10s. 35s i feel like i am getting close to needing to gear to get the pep back. but if i did the tcase gears problem solved..... hmmmmmm

Don’t know for sure if it’s medium or heavy because it was on the truck when I purchased it. But I suspect it’s the medium because my truck didn’t have a winch or anything on the front. I have Land Tank caster plates but haven’t installed them yet :lmao: Caster is currently at almost 0 :homer: So it wanders on the road some. :lmao: Factory brake lines work with the lift but I installed longer length ones from a Tundra (?) for some added piece of mind. 35s fit stock with no lift but looks better with the lift kit. Mine was a 3FE so it wasn’t quick at all. But the 1FZ Should be better-ish :lmao:
